Moon Literacy Website is Launched
On 25 January 2006 the Moon website was launched at Linden Lodge
School. The event was a great success with presentations, an exhibition
and also a preview of the DVD from the University of Birmingham School
of Education ‘Routes to Literacy through Moon’. The presenters included:
- Florence Boyles who spoke passionately about the need for Moon
for people such as herself who have lost their sight later in life;
- David Nelson, a teacher at Linden Lodge School who demonstrated
his mnemonics programme for teaching Moon;
- Steve McCall from University of Birmingham School of Education
who outlined the role of Moon as a means to literacy for children
with additional disabilities;
- Claire Wilson, RNIB Braille and Moon Literacy Officer who
offered a broader picture of Moon provision in the UK.
"Routes to Literacy through Moon" is now available on DVD or Video,
accompanied by a printed commentary, price £20.00. Please contact the
University of Birmingham School of Education for further details.
